Bogdan reaches her first-ever WTA final in Warsaw

Romanian Ana Bogdan reached the final of the Poland Open by defeating Ukrainian lucky loser Kateryna Baindl 7-5, 7-5 at Legia Tenis & Golf in Warsaw on Saturday night.
Bogdan, ranked No 108, will face the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 5 seed, and Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 10 seed, next. It’s the first time of her career that Ana Bogdan reaches the final in a WTA event.
In the previous rounds, the Romanian won against Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz, the No 7 seed (6-4, 7-6 (3)), Czech Katerina Siniakova (6-0, 6-4) and Brazilian lucky loser Laura Pigossi (6-1, 6-1).
Baindl, ranked No 190, won against Belgian Maryna Zanevska, the No 11 seed (6-3, 6-3), Italian qualifier Sara Errani (6-2, 3-0 ret.) and Croat Petra Martic, the No 8 seed (1-6, 6-3, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
