Poland Open: Baindl moves into last eight

Kateryna Baindl won against Sara Errani 6-2, 3-0 on Thursday afternoon and will face the winner of the match between Croat Petra Martic, the No 8 seed, and Pole wildcard Maja Chwalinska in the next round

Ukrainian lucky loser Kateryna Baindl defeated Italian qualifier Sara Errani 6-2, 3-0 to advance to the last 8 of the Poland Open at  Legia Tenis & Golf in Warsaw on Thursday.

Baindl, ranked No 190, will play the winner of the match between Croat Petra Martic, the No 8 seed, and Pole wildcard Maja Chwalinska next.

The Ukrainian won against Belgian Maryna Zanevska, the No 11 seed (6-3, 6-3) in the previous round.

In the first round, Errani, ranked No 127, edged out Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus (6-1, 5-7, 6-4).
