Pegula loses opening match to Blinkova in Indian Wells

Russian Anna Blinkova won against American Jessica Pegula, the No 5 seed, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to reach the third round of the Indian Wells at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Saturday night.

Blinkova, ranked No 45, will face Frenchwoman Diane Parry next.

The Russian edged out wildcard Karolina Pliskova (6-1, 2-6, 6-4) in the previous round of the Indian Wells tournament.
