Parma Open: Stephens moves into second round
Sloane Stephens edged out Magdalena Frech 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Monday and will face the winner of the match between Montenegrin Danka Kovinic and Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin in the next round

American Sloane Stephens, the No 4 seed, reached the second round of the Parma Open by edging out Pole Magdalena Frech 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at the Tennis Club Parma on Monday.
Stephens, ranked No 50, will face the winner of the match between Montenegrin Danka Kovinic and Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin next.
