Parma Open: Sherif moves into semi-finals
Mayar Sherif defeated Lauren Davis 7-6 (2), 6-3 on Thursday
Egyptian Mayar Sherif advanced to the last 4 of the Parma Open by defeating American Lauren Davis 7-6 (2), 6-3 at the Tennis Club Parma on Thursday.
Sherif, ranked No 74, will play the winner of the match between No 6 seed Ana Bogdan and No 3 seed Irina-Camelia Begu next.
In the previous rounds of the Parma Ladies Open, the Egyptian won against Hungarian Anna Bondar, the No 5 seed (7-5, 6-4) and Swiss qualifier Simona Waltert (6-3, 7-6 (1)).
Davis, ranked No 99, won against Italian wildcard Sara Errani (7-5, 7-5) and edged out Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo (3-6, 6-4, 7-5).
