Parma Ladies Open: Schmiedlova sees off tough Juvan test
Anna Karolina Schmiedlova edged out Kaja Juvan 6-1, 6-7 (4), 6-4 on Thursday evening and will face Polish qualifier Katarzyna Kawa in the next round

Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the top seed, edged out Slovenian Kaja Juvan, the No 6 seed, 6-1, 6-7 (4), 6-4 to move into the semi-finals of the Parma Ladies Open on Thursday evening.
Schmiedlova, ranked No 58, will play Polish qualifier Katarzyna Kawa next.
The Slovak defeated Frenchwoman Carole Monnet (6-3, 6-4) and Hungarian Reka Luca Jani (6-3, 6-2) in the previous rounds, while earlier in the tournament, Juvan, ranked No 108, won against German Noma Noha Akugue (6-4, 6-4) and Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet (3-6, 6-4, 6-1).
