Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the top seed, won against Frenchwoman Carole Monnet 6-3, 6-4 to reach the last 16 of the Parma Ladies Open on Monday.

Schmiedlova, ranked No 58, will play Hungarian Reka Luca Jani next.
