Zeynep Sonmez edged out Ukrainian qualifier Anastasiya Soboleva 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 to move into the quarter-finals of the Parma Ladies Open presented by Iren on Wednesday.
Sonmez, ranked No 163, will play the winner of the match between German Jule Niemeier and Indian Ankita Raina next.
In the previous round, Zeynep Sonmez beat Italian Lucia Bronzetti, the second seed (6-0, 6-4).
Soboleva, ranked No 260, won against Canadian Marina Stakusic (6-3, 4-6, 6-3) in the previous round.
