Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 8 seed, reached the last eight of the Parma Ladies Open presented by Iren by beating Swiss qualifier Susan Bandecchi 6-3, 7-5 on Wednesday evening.
Sherif, ranked No 80, will play Russian Kamilla Rakhimova next.
In the previous round, the Egyptian won against Italian qualifier Martina Colmegna (6-2, 7-5).
Bandecchi, ranked No 371, defeated Russian Ekaterina Makarova (6-4, 6-1) in the previous round.
