Parma Ladies Open presented by Iren: Schmiedlova wins title

Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the No 4 seed, edged out Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 8 seed, 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 to win the Parma Ladies Open presented by Iren final on Saturday.
Schmiedlova, ranked No 67, beat Hungarian Dalma Galfi (6-3, 7-6 (5)), Italian wildcard Giorgia Pedone (6-3, 6-0), qualifier Jesika Maleckova (6-0, 7-5) and German Jule Niemeier (6-4, 6-7 (11), 7-5) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds, Sherif, ranked No 80, defeated Italian qualifier Martina Colmegna (6-2, 7-5), Swiss qualifier Susan Bandecchi (6-3, 7-5), Russian Kamilla Rakhimova (6-3, 7-5) and Mexican Renata Zarazua (6-4, 6-4).
