Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the No 4 seed, edged out German Jule Niemeier 6-4, 6-7 (11), 7-5 to advance to the final of the Parma Ladies Open presented by Iren on Friday.
Schmiedlova, ranked No 67, will play the winner of the match between Mexican Renata Zarazua and Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 8 seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Slovak won against Hungarian Dalma Galfi (6-3, 7-6 (5)), Italian wildcard Giorgia Pedone (6-3, 6-0) and qualifier Jesika Maleckova (6-0, 7-5).
Niemeier, ranked No 105, defeated Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the No 6 seed (6-4, 4-6, 6-0), Indian Ankita Raina (6-1, 6-3) and Zeynep Sonmez (6-3, 7-5) in the previous rounds.
