Russian Kamilla Rakhimova advanced to the quarter-finals of the Parma Ladies Open presented by Iren by defeating Australian Daria Saville 6-4, 7-5 on Wednesday afternoon.
Rakhimova, ranked No 98, will face the winner of the match between Swiss qualifier Susan Bandecchi and Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 8 seed, next.
In the previous round, the 22-year-old Russian won against Italian Martina Trevisan (6-2, 6-4).
Saville, ranked No 84, beat lucky loser Anna Siskova (6-1, 6-2) in her first match.
