German Jule Niemeier advanced to the last 16 of the Parma Ladies Open presented by Iren by beating Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the No 6 seed, 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
Niemeier, ranked No 105, will play Indian Ankita Raina next.
