Parma Open: Kovinic upsets Stephens to reach last eight

Montenegrin Danka Kovinic upset American Sloane Stephens, the No 4 seed, 7-5, 2-6, 7-5 to reach the quarter-finals of the Parma Open.
Kovinic, ranked No 78, will play the winner of the match between Jasmine Paolini and Elisabetta Cocciaretto next.
In the previous round of the Parma Ladies Open, the Montenegrin edged out Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin (6-1, 3-6, 6-4).
Stephens, ranked No 50, edged out Pole Magdalena Frech (3-6, 6-3, 6-4) in the previous round.
