Palermo Open: Zheng sees off Martic to make quarter-finals

Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the top seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Palermo Open by winning against Croat Petra Martic 6-4, 6-4 at A.S.D. Country Time Club on Thursday evening.
Zheng, ranked No 7, will play Romanian Jaqueline Cristian, the No 7 seed, next.
The 21-year-old Chinese beat Italian Sara Errani (6-3, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Palermo tournament, Martic, ranked No 99, won against Colombian Emiliana Arango (6-2, 6-3).
