Palermo Open: Zheng reaches final, will face Paolini for title
Qinwen Zheng beat Mayar Sherif 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 on Saturday evening and will play Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 5 seed, in the final
Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the second seed, won against Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 3 seed, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 to reach the final of the Palermo Open at A.S.D. Country Time Club on Saturday evening.
Zheng, ranked No 26, will play Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 5 seed, next.
The 20-year-old Chinese beat Italian Sara Errani (6-0, 6-0), Frenchwoman Diane Parry (7-5, 3-6, 6-3) and American Emma Navarro, the No 7 seed (6-4, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Palermo tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Sherif, ranked No 38, defeated Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (3-6, 7-6 (6), 7-5), Russian lucky loser Sofya Lansere (6-3, 6-3) and Colombian Camila Osorio (6-4, 6-1).
