Romanian Jaqueline Cristian, the No 7 seed, won against Italian Lucia Bronzetti 6-3, 6-2 to move into the last 8 of the Palermo Open at A.S.D. Country Time Club.
Cristian, ranked No 66, will play the winner of the match between Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the top seed, and Croat Petra Martic next.
In the previous round of the Palermo tournament, the Romanian defeated Argentinian Julia Riera (6-3, 6-2).
Bronzetti, ranked No 70, won against Frenchwoman Elsa Jacquemot (7-5, 3-6, 6-3) in the previous round of the Palermo tournament.
