Palermo Open: Begu reaches quarter-finals

Irina-Camelia Begu edged out Oceane Dodin 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 on Wednesday evening and will face the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Diane Parry and Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the second seed, in the next round

Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, the No 6 seed, edged out Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the last 8 of the Palermo Open at A.S.D. Country Time Club in Palerme on Wednesday evening.

Begu, ranked No 45, will play the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Diane Parry and Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the second seed, next.

Ahead of her victory, the Romanian won against Spanish qualifier Marina Bassols Ribera (6-3, 4-6, 6-3).

Dodin, ranked No 77, beat Italian qualifier Matilde Paoletti (6-4, 7-5) in the previous round.
