Czech wildcard Karolina Muchova won against Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 7 seed, 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the second round of the Ostrava Open at the Ostravar Aréna on Wednesday.
Muchova, ranked No 189, will play American qualifier Caty McNally next.
