American Alycia Parks, the No 3 seed, beat German Tamara Korpatsch 7-6 (3), 6-2 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Open In Arte Angers Loire on Wednesday evening.
Parks, ranked No 103, will face the winner of the match between Andorran Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva and Frenchwoman Elsa Jacquemot next.
Ahead of her victory, the American won against French wildcard Julie Belgraver (6-2, 6-4).
Korpatsch, ranked No 178, won against Anna-Lena Friedsam (6-3, 6-3) in the previous round.
