German Mona Barthel won against Frenchwoman Clara Burel, the top seed, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 to move into the quarter-finals of the Open In Arte Angers Loire on Thursday evening.
Barthel, ranked No 183, will play Barbora Palicova next.
The 34-year-old German beat Frenchwoman Selena Janicijevic (6-1, 6-3) in the previous round.
In the 32, Burel, ranked No 73, defeated Swiss Celine Naef (7-5, 6-3).
