Argentinian Nadia Podoroska, the top seed, moved into the quarter-finals of the Open delle Puglie by beating American Louisa Chirico 1-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2 on Wednesday evening.
Podoroska, ranked No 59, will play Italian qualifier Beatrice Ricci next.
The Argentinian won against Romanian Cristina Dinu (6-2, 6-3) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Chirico, ranked No 209, defeated Portuguese Francisca Jorge (6-3, 6-3).
