The Italian won against Frenchwoman Harmony Tan, the No 7 seed (6-2, 6-0) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Ormaechea, ranked No 240, defeated Romanian qualifier Andreea Rosca (3-6, 6-2, 6-2).
