Chinese Lin Zhu, the No 8 seed, reached the last 16 of the Nottingham Open by defeating American Alycia Parks 7-6 (5), 6-2 at Nottingham Tennis Centre on Monday afternoon.
Zhu, ranked No 39, will face Pole Magdalena Frech next.
