German Tatjana Maria won against Chinese Shuai Zhang, the No 6 seed, 6-1, 6-4 to advance to the last 16 of the Nottingham Open at Nottingham Tennis Centre on Monday.
Maria, ranked No 66, will face the winner of the match between German Jule Niemeier and qualifier Heather Watson next.
