Nottingham Open: Burrage wins as four Britons reach quarter-finals of an WTA event for first time

Jodie Burrage moved into the quarter-finals of the Nottingham Open by winning against Pole Magda Linette, the No 3 seed, 7-5, 6-3 at Nottingham Tennis Centre on Thursday afternoon.
Burrage, ranked No 131, will play Pole Magdalena Frech next.

Jodie Burrage edged out Czech Tereza Martincova (7-6 (5), 3-6, 7-6 (4)) ahead of her victory. Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart and Heather Watson made history for Britain.
In the previous round of the Nottingham tournament, Linette, ranked No 21, defeated Australian qualifier Olivia Gadecki (6-4, 6-4).
