Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz edged out Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the No 6 seed, 6-4, 6-7 (6), 7-5 to move into the last 8 of the Nordea Open on Wednesday.
Parrizas Diaz, ranked No 165, will play German Tamara Korpatsch, the No 3 seed, next.
The Spaniard won against Argentinian Julia Riera (6-3, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Carle, ranked No 87, beat Spaniard Rebeka Masarova (6-1, 6-2).
