German Tamara Korpatsch, the No 3 seed, moved into the last 8 of the Nordea Open when Slovenian Tamara Zidansek retired on Wednesday.
Korpatsch, ranked No 73, led 6-7 (3), 6-4 when Zidansek, ranked No 112, pulled out on Wednesday.
The German will play the winner of the match between Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the No 6 seed, and Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz next.
In the previous round, Tamara Korpatsch edged out Ella Seidel (6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-4).
The Slovenian defeated Swede wildcard Kajsa Rinaldo Persson (1-6, 6-2, 6-1) during the 32.
