Pole Katarzyna Kawa edged out Romanian Jaqueline Cristian, the second seed, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 7-6 (7) to advance to the quarter-finals of the Nordea Open on Wednesday evening.
Kawa, ranked No 186, will play American Ann Li next.
Ahead of her victory, the Pole edged out Ukrainian Anastasiya Soboleva (2-6, 6-2, 7-5).
Cristian, ranked No 62, won against Swede wildcard Nellie Taraba Wallberg (6-2, 6-2) in the previous round.
