Nordea Open: Chirico reaches quarter-finals

American Louisa Chirico advanced to the quarter-finals of the Nordea Open by winning against Thai Mananchaya Sawangkaew 6-2, 6-3 on Wednesday.
Chirico, ranked No 216, will play the winner of the match between Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the No 4 seed, and Ukrainian Katarina Zavatska next.
The American defeated Mexican Renata Zarazua, the No 8 seed (3-6, 6-4, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Sawangkaew, ranked No 206, won against Romanian Irina Bara (6-1, 7-6 (4)).
