Nordea Open: Chirico sets up all-American clash against Navarro in semis

Louisa Chirico beat No 7 seed Claire Liu 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 to move into the semi-finals of the Nordea Open at Båstad Tennisstadion in Bastad on Thursday.

Chirico, ranked No 251, will play fellow American Emma Navarro, the top seed, next.

Ahead of her victory, Louisa Chirico won against Norwegian Malene Helgo (6-1, 6-4) and Swede Rebecca Peterson, the No 4 seed (7-6 (4), 5-7, 6-1).

Liu, ranked No 93, won against Romanian Oana Gavrila (6-3, 6-1) and Russian Irina Khromacheva (6-2, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
