Linda Fruhvirtova moved into the last 16 of the Ningbo Open when Spaniard Rebeka Masarova retired on Monday.
Fruhvirtova, ranked No 117, led 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 when Masarova, ranked No 67, pulled out on Monday afternoon.
Linda Fruhvirtova will play Russian Anna Blinkova, the No 4 seed, next.
