“Next season I’ll be back” – Emma Raducanu announces plans to return to tour in 2024
Emma Raducanu reaffirmed her plans to return to the court in 2024. The former US Open champion, now ranked 214, has not played since April due to surgeries to her ankle and both wrists
Emma Raducanu recently dropped out of the top 200 due to inactivity, but the former world No 10 and 2021 US Open champion plans to be back in 2024.
The former British No 1 missed three of the four Grand Slams this season after undergoing surgery on her ankle and both wrists in May.
But Raducanu returned to the practice court in August, and the 20-year-old still has her eye on making a push back up the rankings.
“Next season I’ll be back,” the 20-year-old told BBC London. “This season all the slams were finished so it was difficult to watch them go by but I was trying to stay in my lane as much as possible and keep focused on my recovery.”
Since winning the US Open in 2021, where she became the first qualifier to ever claim a Grand Slam title, Raducanu has failed to reach beyond the second round at a major in five appearances at the majors.
The current world No 214 has routinely been bothered by injuries and kept a steady flow of new coaches coming into her camp, making steady, stable results hard to come by.
