Swiss Jil Teichmann reached the last 16 of the National Bank Open by defeating Estonian Anett Kontaveit, the second seed, 6-4, 6-4 at the Aviva Centre in Toronto on Wednesday evening.
Teichmann, ranked No 21, will face Romanian Simona Halep, the No 15 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the Swiss won against American wildcard Venus Williams (6-2, 6-3).
