National Bank Open: Halep makes last 16
Simona Halep won against Shuai Zhang 6-4, 6-2 on Wednesday evening and will face the winner of the match between Swiss Jil Teichmann and Estonian Anett Kontaveit, the second seed, in the next round
Romanian Simona Halep, the No 15 seed, defeated Chinese Shuai Zhang 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the last 16 of the National Bank Open at the Aviva Centre in Toronto on Wednesday evening.
Halep, ranked No 15, will play the winner of the match between Swiss Jil Teichmann and Estonian Anett Kontaveit, the second seed, next.
In the previous round of the Canadian Open, the Romanian won against Croat lucky loser Donna Vekic (6-0, 6-2).
Zhang, ranked No 45, beat Spaniard Cristina Bucsa (6-1, 6-3) in the previous round of the Canadian Open.
