Beatriz Haddad Maia is through to the second round of the National Bank Open after defeating Martina Trevisan 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 on Monday afternoon. The Brazilian advanced at the Aviva Centre in Toronto after two hours and seven minutes.
Haddad Maia, ranked No 24, will face either Canadian hopeful Leylah Fernandez or Australian qualifier Storm Sanders in the round of 32.
