Andreescu thrills crowd with win over San Jose champ Kasatkina
Canada’s Bianca Andreescu wins at home on Tuesday, getting through a back-and-forth affair with top-10 opponent Daria Kasatkina. Alize Cornet is next for Andreescu.

Bianca Andreescu survived a roller-coaster first set and then treated the home crowd to a big victory over recent San Jose winner and world No 9 Daria Kasatkina.
Andreescu gave back breaks four times in the opener, including twice when she failed to serve it out. The Canadian also missed set points with Kasatkina serving at 3-5 before finally converting her third chance at 6-5 in the tiebreaker. A similarly wild second set featured 14 break points after there were 16 in the first. Andreescu failed to seal the deal on serve at 5-3, but she broke at 5-4 to clinch victory in appropriate fashion.
Her 7-6(5), 6-4 success required two hours and 30 minutes, sending her through to a meeting with Alize Cornet.
