Swiss qualifier Ylena In-Albon won against Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich 7-5, 7-5 to advance to the last eight of the MundoTenis Open on Wednesday afternoon.
In-Albon, ranked No 342, will face the winner of the match between Italian Nicole Fossa Huergo and Greek Despina Papamichail next.
Ahead of her victory, the Swiss defeated Hungarian Panna Udvardy, the No 6 seed (6-4, 6-1).
Shymanovich, ranked No 246, won against Chilean wildcard Antonia Vergara Rivera (6-3, 6-3) in the previous round.
