Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the top seed, moved into the quarter-finals of the MundoTenis Open by winning against Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 on Wednesday evening.
Carle, ranked No 89, will play the winner of the match between Pole Katarzyna Kawa and Brazilian Laura Pigossi, the No 5 seed, next.
The Argentinian defeated Russian qualifier Mariia Tkacheva (6-1, 6-0) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Mladenovic, ranked No 213, beat Colombian Emiliana Arango (7-6 (5), 6-7 (6), 6-1).
