Mumbai Open: Volynets makes quarter-finals
Katie Volynets beat Rutuja Bhosale 7-6 (8), 2-6, 6-1 on Thursday and will play lucky loser Sohyun Park in the next round

American Katie Volynets, the No 8 seed, defeated Indian wildcard Rutuja Bhosale 7-6 (8), 2-6, 6-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the Mumbai Open at the Cricket Club of India on Thursday.
Volynets, ranked No 113, will face lucky loser Sohyun Park next.
The 22-year-old American won against Indian wildcard Ankita Raina (6-4, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Mumbai tournament, Bhosale, ranked No 346, won against Thai qualifier Peangtarn Plipuech (6-4, 7-5).
