Morocco Open: Bronzetti upsets Maria and moves into quarter-finals

Italian Lucia Bronzetti edged out German Tatjana Maria, the No 8 seed, 6-7 (1), 6-4, 7-5 to reach the quarter-finals of the Morocco Open at Union Sportive des Cheminots du Maroc in Rabat on Wednesday.
Bronzetti, ranked No 102, will face the winner of the match between Russian Kamilla Rakhimova and American Alycia Parks, the No 4 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the Italian won against Swede Rebecca Peterson (6-4, 7-6 (4)).
Maria, ranked No 64, defeated Russian qualifier Tatiana Prozorova (7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-0) in the previous round of the Rabat Grand Prix.
