Russian Polina Kudermetova won against Romanian Miriam Bulgaru 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 to move into the last eight of the Montreux Nestlé Open on Thursday evening.
Kudermetova, ranked No 169, will play Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, the No 7 seed, next.
The 21-year-old Russian edged out Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet, the No 3 seed (4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4)) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Bulgaru, ranked No 183, defeated Italian qualifier Camilla Rosatello (6-3, 6-3).
