Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, the No 7 seed, moved into the quarter-finals of the Montreux Nestlé Open by beating Brazilian Laura Pigossi 6-3, 6-0 on Wednesday evening.
Begu, ranked No 130, will face the winner of the match between Russian Polina Kudermetova and Romanian Miriam Bulgaru next.
The 34-year-old Romanian won against Swiss Celine Naef (6-0, 6-3) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Pigossi, ranked No 141, won against Swiss wildcard Simona Waltert (6-2, 7-6 (2)).
