Montevideo Open: Zarazua advances to final against Parry

Mexican Renata Zarazua, the second seed, edged out Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the No 5 seed, 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 to advance to the final of the Montevideo Open at the Carrasco Lawn Tennis Club on Saturday evening.
Zarazua, ranked No 128, will face the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Diane Parry, the top seed, and American Robin Montgomery next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Mexican defeated American qualifier Haley Giavara (6-0, 7-5), Romanian qualifier Gabriela Lee (6-0, 6-0) and Romanian Miriam Bulgaru, the No 6 seed (6-2, 6-2).
Carle, ranked No 140, won against Ukrainian Valeriya Strakhova (6-4, 6-3), Slovenian Polona Hercog (6-0, 6-1) and No 4 seed Julia Riera (6-4, 6-0) in the previous rounds of the Uruguayan tournament.
