Noskova secures spot in quarter-finals of Monterrey Open
The Czech will Ukrainian Elina Svitolina for a spot in the semi-finals
Linda Noskova at the 2024 Australian Open
No 6 seed Linda Noskova moved into the quarter-finals of the Monterrey Open by dismissing China’s Xiyu Wang 6-4, 7-6 (11) at Sonoma Club on Wednesday.
Noskova, ranked No 35, saved three set points in the second set tiebreak before finally converting her sixth match points for the win.
The Czech will next play Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 5 seed.
In the previous round of the tournament, Noskova beat Kazakh qualifier Anna Danilina (6-0, 6-1).
Wang, ranked No 56, defeated German Tatjana Maria (6-0, 6-3) in her first round of the week.

- Yue Yuan (7) beat Petra Martic: 6-4, 6-1
- Lulu Sun beat Maria Lourdes Carle: 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (2)
