Monterrey Open: Navarro beats Frech to move into semi-finals
The American will take on the winner of the match between No 6 seed Linda Noskova and Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 5 seed, in the last four
American Emma Navarro, the second seed, defeated Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 9 seed, 6-7 (3), 6-0, 6-2 to move into the last four of the Monterrey Open at Sonoma Club on Thursday.
Navarro, ranked No 13, will face the winner of the match between No 6 seed Linda Noskova and Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 5 seed, next. This is her sixth semi-final of the season for Navarro.
In the previous round of the tournament, the American edged out Colombian Camila Osorio (3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (2)).
Frech, ranked No 45, edged out Argentinian Nadia Podoroska (6-4, 4-6, 6-4) and won against Israeli lucky loser Lina Glushko (6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-1) earlier in the week.
