Monterrey Open: Carle edges Kudermetova for spot in second round
Maria Lourdes Carle edged out Veronika Kudermetova 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 on Monday night. She’ll play the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet and New Zealander Lulu Sun in the next round

Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle reached the second round of the Monterrey Open by edging out Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 8 seed, 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 at Sonoma Club on Monday night.
Carle, ranked No 87, will face the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet and New Zealander Lulu Sun next.
