Monterrey Open: Zhu into the semi-finals
Lin Zhu won against Caroline Dolehide 6-3, 6-2 on Friday and will face the winner of the match between Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure and Croat Donna Vekic, the No 3 seed, in the next round
Chinese Lin Zhu, the No 5 seed, advanced to the last four of the Monterrey Open by winning against American qualifier Caroline Dolehide 6-3, 6-2 at the Estadio GNP Seguros on Friday.
Zhu, ranked No 41, will face the winner of the match between Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure and Croat Donna Vekic, the No 3 seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Chinese beat Hungarian Anna Bondar (6-4, 7-6 (4)) and Canadian Rebecca Marino (7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-3).
Dolehide, ranked No 206, defeated German Jule Niemeier (6-1, 6-0) and Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (6-2, 6-4).
