Frenchwoman Alize Cornet, the No 3 seed, beat Brazilian Laura Pigossi 7-6 (3), 6-0 to reach the second round of the Monastir Open at the Monastir Tennis Club on Monday.
Cornet, ranked No 37, will face the winner of the match between Harriet Dart and Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz next.
