Minnen books spot in Austin semi-finals

Greet Minnen defeated Caroline Dolehide 6-3, 7-5 to advance to the last four of the Austin Open at the Westwood Country Club on Friday night.

Minnen, ranked No 92, will next face American McCartney Kessler, the No 5 seed.

Earlier in the tournament, the Belgian beat Chinese qualifier Sijia Wei (5-7, 6-3, 6-2) and Dutchwoman Suzan Lamens, the No 8 seed (6-1, 6-0).

Dolehide, ranked No 80, advanced to the last eight by getting the best of Russian qualifier Anastasia Zakharova (6-2, 5-7, 6-4) and Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva (5-7, 6-2, 6-2).
